CLASSROOM PROCEDURES FOR MRS. GRAYBEAL

STUDENTS ENTERING THE CLASSROOM
 Students are expected to enter the classroom, get pencil sharpened, throw away any trash, have all materials at desk, and begin bellringer activity when the last bell rings.

THE DAY'S DATE & LOCATION
 The date will be displayed in the upper right hand corner of my white board.  I have a calendar bulletin board that is displayed for the entire month.

BELL ACTIVITIES
Students will come in and complete bell ringer activity.

STUDENTS WHO ARE TARDY, HAVE BEEN ABSENT, OR HAVE PARENT-NOTES
Students who are tardy, or have been absent and have an admit slip will bring it to me.  If a student has a note from his/her parents, they ma also bring it to me.

STUDENTS RECEIVING PERMISSION TO SPEAK/COMMENT/ASK QUESTIONS
I expect students to raise their hand and wait to be called on before asking a question or making a comment.  Students need to follow the hand signal poster.

STUDENTS COMING TO ATTENTION-SIGNAL/EXPECTATIONS
 If I am trying to get student's attention, I will say "five".  They in turn are supposed to get seated and be quiet.  This signals they are ready to start class, their mouths are closed, and they are facing the front.

STUDENTS NEEDING TO GO TO THE RESTROOM
As a class we go to the restroom. I allow students to go to the restroom as needed as long as the privilege is not abused.  Students will need to sign the "Out of Class Log" at the back of the room.  Students need to follow the  hand signal poster.

STUDENTS NEEDING TO THROW AWAY PAPER
 Students are expected to throw paper away at the beginning of class before the last tardy bell rings.  If during the class they accumulate trash, they must hold it until the bell rings for dismissal.
Students need to follow the  hand signal poster.

STUDENTS NEEDING TO SHARPEN PENCIL
 Students are expected to sharpen pencils at the beginning of class before the last tardy bell rings.  If during the class they need to sharpen a pencil, they must wait until I have given independent practice.  They are not to sharpen pencils while I am teaching.  Students need to follow the  hand signal poster.

STUDENTS NEEDING A TISSUE
Students are allowed to get tissues as needed as long as they do not abuse the privilege.  Students need to follow the  hand signal poster.

STUDENT WORK

HEADING OF PAPERS
 All papers are to be labeled in the upper right hand corner with the following information:  Name, Date, Assignment, Homeroom, and class period.
 

PASSING IN PAPERS
 Students pass their paper to the person beside them.  I always have someone go around and collect papers from the people on the inside rows.

USE OF PEN OR PENCIL
 I allow students to use pen on notes, checking homework, and journals.  They are never allowed to use pen on tests.

WRITING ON BACK OF PAPER
I do allow students to write on the backs of papers.
NEATNESS
If I can not read it, I do not grade it.  I expect all work to be done neatly.

INCOMPLETE/LATE WORK
 If work is late or incomplete, I deduct points off for each day it is late.

DUE DATES
 I post due dates on the white board and on my website.

MAKE-UP WORK
Students are responsible for checking with each teacher when they return to school.

NOTEBOOK EXPECTATIONS/GRADING
 Each student is to keep up with homework.  Each students should also have a bell-ringer notebook for notes in my class.

HOMEWORK
I post assignments on the board and on my webpage.  Homework is due the next day it is assigned unless otherwise noted.

END OF CLASS DISMISSAL
 The bell does not dismiss students, I do.  Students are expected to wait until I dismiss them.
 

LEAVING THE CLASSROOM
 When students are leaving my classroom, they are to line up at the blue cabinet.When they are coming into my classroom, they are to line up at the cubbies.

INTERCOM ANNOUNCEMENTS
 Students are not allowed to answer the intercom at any time.
