Test on terms:  mountain, hill, valley, plain, plateau, river, ocean, sea, lake, island, gulf, peninsula, canyon, desert.   

Read Chapter 1, and answer pg. 9 Section 1, questions 2&3, and begin defining Chapter 1 Terms.

Keep these in your Social Studies Folder in your binder.

Continue defining Chapter 1 Terms found in each set of section questions  (pgs. 9, 19, 21, 24, and 30) Have at least 25 of the 33 terms completed by tomorrow.

Complete the remainder of the Chapter 1 terms,  discuss, and check.  Brainstorm and fill in a graphic about geography. 

Do pg. 1 in the workbook as part of a study sheet for Chapter 1.  There will be a test tomorrow.  STUDY! 

Chapter 1 Test.  Bring a book to read in case you have extra time. 

September 10-14

Some students will finish the essay portion of the Chapter One test due to Friday's shortened schedule.  Do WB pg. 4, and read and discuss text pg. 17. 

We will be going to the library to do some research on a given topic.  The students will be oriented to the library as it relates to social studies class. 

Students will do an activity in class on various types of maps.  Students will copy and be responsible for learning a diagram on the seasons.   

Begin defining the vocabulary (or terms) for Chapter 2.  These are found at the end of each section as #1 in each set of questions. 

Students will be going to the computer lab to become familiar with the program "Brain Pop".  This is a supplementary program used to enhance studies.

  • Complete yesterday's classwork, and discuss as a class.
